We update this page daily so please check back often. Please leave a detailed message if they are not at their desk. All messages are returned by close of business.
We do have open shelters and appointments are not required to adopt.
Open adoption hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10AM – 12:30 PM and 2 – 4PM
- Thursday 10AM – 12PM and 2 – 6:30PM
- Saturday 9am – 1PM

- FOUND AN ANIMAL?
During Business Hours (M,T,W,F 8:30-4:30, TH 8:30-7, and Sat 9-2) please contact our lost and found department to file a report. 410-848-4810 ext. 817 or ext. 810; or kcrowl@carrollcountymd.gov

**After Business Hours—please try and take the animal to a vet office to have scanned for a microchip. Animals found in Carroll County can be dropped off in our emergency after hours pen (located behind the shelter). Those dropping off must call the number on the door and provide a copy of their driver’s license and location where animal was found to an animal control officer before being able to leave animal with us.

- NEED A DOG LICENSE?
Dog licenses and a valid Rabies Inoculation are required for all dogs 4 months of age and older in Carroll County. Dog licenses are only good for one year and must be purchased annually.

- NEED PET FOOD ASSISTANCE?
We offer community assistance with food, treats, and other supplies as it is available to us. Our sharing shed (in front of shelter) is open during business hours. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Thursday 8:30am-7pm, and Saturday 9am-2pm. Please come inside the shelter to fill out an informational form. Our front desk staff will then open the shed for you.

- SURRENDERING AN ANIMAL?
We are sorry to hear you need to relinquish a pet. All surrender appointments are done by appointment to allow our team the necessary time to learn all we can about your pet to ensure the best possible outcome for them. Please contact the proper department to schedule an appointment. - SPAY/NEUTER & VACCINATIONS: VET CARE?
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding veterinary care for your pet. We do not have a veterinarian on our staff; therefore, we do not offer veterinary services to the public. Please refer to our website (https://hscarroll.org/spay-neuter/) for a list of spay/neuter and vaccinations options.

- BEDDING DONATIONS?
Thank you for thinking of our animals in need. Currently we are only accepting bath size towels. We appreciate your donations. Frisky’s Wildlife Sanctuary is a great resource for the community and would most likely accept your linen donation. Please reach out to them at 410-418-8899.

- ANIMAL CONTROL ISSUES?
Please contact Animal Control at 410-848-4810 option 2 during these hours: 8:30-4:30 Monday – Friday and 9-2 Saturday. For after hours emergencies only, dial 410-848-4810 and follow the prompts.

- PET SUPPLY DONATIONS?
We accept donations of pet food and supplies (open containers are okay as long as not expired). Items can be dropped off during business hours in the blue bins inside our front doors.

- MAKE A MONETARY DONATION?

You can make a donation in honor or memory of someone, and specify what area you’d like your donation to be used (general medical, spay/neuter, etc).

- DECEASED ANIMAL ON THE ROAD?
Deceased animals that are roadside are picked up by the Roads Dept. If you have a deceased animal on your property, please place it roadside and call the proper department for removal. County Roads: 410-386-6717 or State Roads 410-848-6565.
