On November 29th, 2016 Edgar, pictured below with animal care tech Sabrina, arrived at the shelter and was looking for a new home. Edgar weighed in at 21lbs and was a huge bundle of love. Our animal care team put a plan of action into place and due to his unusual size decided to share his picture on social media. Edgar’s picture went viral receiving over 40,000 shares, and was viewed by over 4.5 million people. Edgar was adopted the same day and is now happily living in his new home with his new mom, Jenna Schwartz.
Edgar was at the Humane Society for just 3 hours before finding his new home. He is a perfect example of the Humane Society’s commitment to finding the best possible outcome for every animal that comes in, whether it be a giant cat or a lap dog. It’s not always possible, but the goal is to get every animal that comes through the door safely adopted into a good and permanent home.
